Monday Inspiration: Modern Loft

Sure, I may never have floor-to-ceiling windows or a mod industrial loft, but that doesn't mean I can't be inspired by one! The chandelier is a perfect compliment to the muted colors of the floor, the raw wood, and furniture.

Monday Inspiration: Offices

Here's an entire post from Design*Sponge chock full of gorgeous office inspiration! The picture above is my favorite--cool colors, inspiration board, and a place for everything (with a nice helping of vintage charm, of course!).

Monday Inspiration: Vintage Office Storage

I love any creative use of vintage storage solutions, so this office is a no-brainer! The gooseneck lighting and the wall mounted storage provides full use of the workspace below.

Monday Inspiration: Vintage, Nothing Like It!

The fantastic thing about vintage home decor is that you can be pretty sure that whatever combination of items you come up with, no one else's will be quite like it. I love that about fellow Etsy-er Dear Golden's home, featured on Design*Sponge (kitty-proof furniture...I am jealous). See the rest here!

Monday Inspiration: Cozy Reading Nook

I'm loving the vintage eclectic mix I found in this reading nook on design*sponge. Nothing particularly glamourous, just accessible, comfortable, and calming for your magazine and cup of coffee.

I'm Earthy Casual

I just took the HomeGoods style quiz, and the result is "Earthy Casual", which certainly seems to fit my vintage-comfort sensibilities:

You're interested in creating a welcoming home where people feel comfortable and happiness flourishes. You appreciate the warmth and individuality of natural materials and handcrafted things and are inspired by colors and forms from nature. You love mixing up different textures and are sensitive to the tactile qualities of objects. Your style is grounded and solid, not flighty or frilly. And you are never taken in by the trend of the moment.

You value creativity. You are stylish and fun loving, and can be an inspiration to others. You have a natural sense of drama, and you know you have to be willing to take risks—whether with colors, finishes, furniture choices, or ideas—for your home to stand out. Your home can be happy and lively and the place all of your friends want to be.

I especially love the assessment of my challenge, to unify my space--I'm certainly a magpie (it's why I do what I do) but when it comes to fitting those finds together, it can be difficult--I think I'll start with the suggestion of arranging things by color and texture and seeing what patterns emerge. You can take the StyleScope quiz and see where you land!

Things Look Better with Spray Paint!

I'm always looking for crafty things to do to vintage finds that aren't so lovely, and spray paint is where I usually end up--it's cheap, easy, fast, and a great way to preserve the essence of an object when you need to change it to match your decor.

Cozy Color Inspiration

I just had to post this picture--I love the layered and cozy feeling in this apartment. It's a great testament to collecting and displaying what makes you feel good, and not being afraid to mix colors that you love. I see a lot of marvelous modern interiors nowadays, but somehow this level of comfort and beauty seems more achievable to me (and my husband, dog and two cats).

You can read the rest of the article on this apartment here. Enjoy the inspiration!
