Monday Inspiration: Ikea Kitchens

It's time to start (seriously) thinking about a kitchen remodel--but, spending money always pains me. I'm thinking that Ikea might be the solution--nice cabinets at affordable prices...assembly required of course. Here's a great collection of real-life Ikea kitchens for inspiration.

I love a good hack, and this one is great! This mod nightstand/side table was assembled with a few items from Ikea.

Great Site: Ikea Family Live

I often look at catalogues and wonder, 'how did they do that'? Everything is subtly matched and elegantly disheveled. That's why I love this site, Ikea Family Live. It shows us how real people (just like us) decorate and use their spaces, and makes me feel a little better about being a little disjointed from time to time.

DI-Wednesday: Floating Nightstands

I've been researching all kinds of possibilities for floating nightstands--I love the sleek, modern look of them, and the added advantage of being able to vacuum around them without moving anything. Of course, I'm too shocked by the prices of most of these nightstands to purchase them (and too unskilled to build them myself) so I'm thinking an Ikea hack might be in order--here's a great one from ikeahacker.

Monday Inspiration: Organized Office

One of my first resolutions for the new year: organize my office! August Vintage is doing pretty well by my estimation, so I need to make my workplace more efficient. A visit to IKEA over the weekend should help with storage and workspace--now if I could only make it look like the office above, I'd be golden.

Ode to Expedit

The Ikea Expedit shelf has always impressed me with its simplicity and clarity of purpose; most Ikea products do well with a hack or two, and here you can find some uses that make my mind ponder the possibilities (though I confess, I've already dipped my toe into the water with a similar wall of Expedit).
